FAQS
WHY DO I NEED A REFERRAL LETTER?
Medicare requires that you provide a current referral when you see a specialist in order to receive a rebate for your consultation. Thus, a referral needs to be obtained prior to the consultation. A referral from a GP or optometrist lasts 12 months and a referral from a specialist doctor lasts 3 months.
WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE DAY OF CONSULTATION
Please allow approximately 3 hours for your visit. You will be seen by an Orthoptist who will conduct preliminary tests before you see the Ophthalmologist. If you require additional tests, please note there may be an additional charge for this.
It may be necessary to dilate your pupils which means that your vision may be blurred for 2-3 hours and it is therefore recommended that you do not drive for at least an hour after the drops have been instilled. It is a good idea to bring a support person with you to the appointment but please limit this to one person as our waiting room is limited.
PATIENT ACCOUNTS
You will be charged a consultation fee and also a fee for any tests or treatments that you might need on the day of your appointment. Payment is expected on the day of your consultation.
We accept cash, credit card (Visa or Mastercard) and EFTPOS. If you have any questions regarding this please don't hesitate to ask one of our friendly staff.
